Life Today

It's amazing a mear month ago I was posting a satire blog on toilet paper.

How our lives have seriously transformed ever since.  The jokes distract us, but there are so many unspoken words, thoughts and emotions.

We are all suffering in some way.  We are desperately trying to find a sense of peace in an extremely unstable situation.

Never once have American lives been restricted so gravely.  We are no longer allowed to live our free lives.  We are struggling, emotionally, financially and physically.

We are being told, 'NO!'

On the surface it makes sense to protect ourselves and our loved ones.  It makes sense to protect the people most vulnerable to a virus that could be deadly.  On the surface we obey.  One the surface it's for the good of the all.

However, as I sit in my condo, working from home, I do feel imprisoned.  I do feel we are all trapped within an emotional prison of uncertainty and instability.

This is far worse, mainly because it has touched every single life, everyone is hurting in some way.

We may drink to dull the burdens, we may throw ourselves into our workouts, or jobs or children's school work and find new and creative ways to pass the time.

At the heart of every home, right now, is hope 'this will be over soon,' and fear for 'what if we never go back to where we were.'

The longer we are caged, the less we will fight, and we will all become complacent and the weak will dissolve into nothingness.

People will get angry and depressed, they will cope in unhealthy ways.  We can not under estimate how our mental health is being compromised each and every day as quarantine continues.

Whether we are married and going a little nuts with our spouse and kids at home, or if we are single and alone, we are all trying to determine how to change our expectations on what makes this new existence okay.

Each day that passes could make us stronger, with the right perspective, however we can never forget where we came from before, "Life Today."
